Event Details:

Sustainable infrastructure will be a major focus at Thriving Neighbourhoods, with the Sustainable Engineering Society (SSEE) and the Australian Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC) each  hosting sessions at the Conference.

SSEE will look at how infrastructure delivery is changing to embrace emerging understanding of sustainability:  one that uses a systems perspective to integrate economic, environmental and social considerations.

AGIC will run a workshop on its Infrastructure Sustainability tool, Australia’s only comprehensive system for evaluating the sustainability of infrastructure projects, so that participants understand the practical application of the tool on different projects.

Infrastructure underpins the delivery of essential services to cities and regions, and is a key determinant of the quality of life of communities.  Governments and their planning, engineering and building consultants have traditionally focused on delivering infrastructure that facilitates efficiency and productivity, but the push for sustainability is gaining momentum.
