Event Details:

Oceanlinx is a company that has developed a technology to convert the energy in ocean waves into electricity. The technology is based on the concept of the Oscillating Water Column (OWC), which effectively acts like an artificial blowhole. The rise and fall of the column of water inside the OWC chamber, and the associated compression and rarefaction of the trapped air, mimics the action of a piston and spring system. A novel and innovative turbine extracts power from the resulting air flow. The presentation will describe the technology and its applications, as well as elaborate briefly on various other alternative wave energy technologies.
