Positioning the State as a world class clean hydrogen supplier: - South Australia has the wind, sun, land, and infrastructure to be a world class renewable hydrogen supplier. Hear from South Australia’s Department for Energy and Mining about a range of the State's major current and proposed renewable hydrogen developments and initiatives including the State’s Hydrogen Action Plan, Export Modelling Tool and Prospectus, Hydrogen Park South Australia (HypSA), Port Pirie Green Hydrogen Project and the Eyre Peninsula Gateway Project.

Richard joined the South Australian Government in 2001 and since that time has worked across the energy, climate change, industry development and low carbon economy portfolios.
He currently heads up a Directorate within the Department of Energy and Mining that is charged with capturing the economic growth and decarbonisation opportunities associated with South Australia’s clean energy transformation towards net 100% renewables, as well as sharing this story with the world.
Richard has spearheaded the development of SA’s Hydrogen Roadmap, Hydrogen Action Plan, Hydrogen Export Modelling Tool, and overseen the development of the State’s Electric Vehicle Action Plan. He is passionate about opportunities to further grow and attract energy intensive value-added industries to SA and is part of the Leadership Team for the Heavy Industry Low-carbon Transition Co-operative Research Centre (HILT CRC).

Paul Rassmusen
Development Director, Energy Estate
Paul is the Development and Technical Director at Energy Estate and has worked in senior management roles across a diverse spectrum of major infrastructure that includes water, energy, transport, alternative fuels, agribusiness and environmental projects.
With more than 20y experience across the design, delivery and operation of complex inter-disciplinary energy and resources projects, Paul is fortunate to have followed several projects from origination through to commercial operation. With this direct and practical experience, Paul has consequently built an end-to-end expertise in project development of major infrastructure that he now leverages across the technical-commercial interface to make engineered solutions investable. Paul occupies a pivotal role in successful project development, interfacing between government and private sector clients and investors, landholders, consulting engineers, major OEMs and technology providers, construction contractors and utilities.

Hannah van Niekerk
Junior Associate, Energy Estate
Prior to joining Energy Estate as a junior associate, Hannah has worked as a process engineer in a range of project engineering roles across consulting and industry, primarily in the dairy and food and beverage sectors. She has experience with master-planning and the end-to-end delivery of innovative projects, and in 2020, she was awarded PMI New Zealand Emerging Project Manager of the Year. Since relocating to Australia and joining the Energy Estate team, Hannah is excited to bring her broad technical knowledge and project delivery experience into pursuing her passion for sustainable project development and helping to drive the energy transition.
