Coal Seam Gas (CSG) is often promoted as a major new energy resource that will power much of the world's industries over coming decades. Australia has considerable reserves of this resource, particularly in Queensland and also NSW and Victoria. But what are the environmental ramifications of exploiting this resource? Concerns include contamination of groundwater and unintended release into the atmosphere causing air pollution and adding to greenhouse gases. This presentation will examine these issues in detail.
