Synopsis:
Perfluorinated Chemicals (PFCs) are man-made chemicals which are very stable chemicals that do not break down in the environment and can persist for a long time both in the environment and in humans. They have been used by numerous industries and are contained in products such as in textiles, leather products, metal plating, protective coating, cleaning products, pesticides and fire fighting foams. These substances have recently been the cause of Ground Water contamination in Oakey and Williamtown. This session will look at the potential risks and impacts associated with these substances as well potential future regulation in QLD on these substances

Australia will implement the GHS for workplace hazardous chemicals (both substances and mixtures) from 1 January 2017. This session is a must for anyone working with, manufacturing dangerous goods and/or chemicals.

The Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) has formally commenced, and the first auction will have been held in mid March 2015. Businesses or organisations wishing to participate in the ERF will need to have projects registered and satisfy the auction pre-qualification requirements. Before this step is undertaken, an understanding of whether a project complies with the relevant rules (such as additionality and requirements of the methodology determinations) will be required.
